Pregnancy, Childbirth and Breastfeeding: Some of the Terminology.

The world of pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding can be an unfamiliar one, and it comes with a whole new set of terminology for you to have to learn. While this list is far from exhaustive, here are a few of the more common terms you might hear, and what they mean.

If Your Baby is in a Posterior Position

Nearing the end of your pregnancy, you will have frequent appointments with your healthcare provider, where they will assess you and your baby. Part of this assessment is palpating your stomach to determine which position your baby is in, if the presenting part is in the pelvis, and checking on bub’s heart rate. Your healthcare provider will also be able to indicate if they think your baby is in an anterior or posterior position.

Which Foods & Drinks To Avoid Or Limit During Pregnancy

Your immune system can be lower during pregnancy, so it can be harder for your body to fight off illness or infection. Some illnesses can also be passed through the placenta to baby – therefore, it’s generally advised to avoid any foods with a high chance of contamination that may make you sick or aren’t optimal for you and baby.
